HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED FOR MDWFP’S MISSISSIPPI MUSEUM OF NATURAL SCIENCE?
I have worked for the museum for 1 year.
It has been a rewarding experience being part of an organization that inspires people to appreciate and protect Mississippi's natural resources.
WHAT’S YOUR WORKDAY LIKE?
My workday is always busy and different from one day to the next.
I coordinate volunteers, schedule volunteer opportunities, assist with museum events and educational programs, and help ensure our volunteers have the tools and support they need to be successful.
One of my favorite parts of the job is working with people of all ages who are passionate about learning and giving back to the community.
TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND AND EDUCATION
As a lifelong Jackson resident, I value community and helping others.
Prior to joining the museum, I spent seven years working in licensing with MDWFP.
In my free time, I enjoy being with my family, cheering on my children in their activities, and participating in community events.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS CAREER?
I chose this career because I love connecting people with meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and make a difference.
Volunteer programs allow individuals to contribute their time and talents while supporting important educational and conservation efforts.
Seeing volunteers develop new skills and become passionate advocates for the museum is incredibly rewarding.
HOW DOES YOUR JOB CONTRIBUTE TO CONSERVATION?
Volunteers play a vital role in supporting the museum's mission of conservation and education.
By recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers, I help expand the museum's ability to educate visitors, assist with special events, support animal programs, and promote awareness about protecting our natural environment.
Every volunteer hour contributes to conservation efforts in some way.
